On Thursday, May 18th, 2023, at 5:01 pm, a Turlock Police officer near a residence in the 900 block of High St, Turlock, observed a bicyclist fail to stop at a stop sign, so he made a bicycle stop on him.

The officer made contact with the bicyclist, later identified as Dix Herbert, 54, of Livingston, and asked him to identify himself. Instead of giving his actual name and date of birth, Herbert stated that he was Dixon Herbert, 53.

When the officer had his dispatcher run Herbert, she discovered his lie, found that he was a parolee-at-large, and found that he had a no-bail felony bench warrant out of Merced County for violation of parole.

Herbert was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of failure to identify to a peace officer, failing to stop at a stop sign, and violation of parole, as well as his warrant.
