Outbuildings, Appliances, Vehicles Burned in Backyard Blaze

At about 5:59pm Sunday, Turlock Fire, Modesto Fire, Turlock Police, Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit, and American Medical Response responded to a working structure fire at a residence in the 200 block of Davis Street.

Officer Ruiz was nearby and the first to report the fire. Dispatch then started receiving several calls reporting a loud explosion followed by the fire starting.

When units arrived on scene, they found an outbuilding on fire behind the residence that had extended to several appliances, debris, vehicles, and other outbuildings. Several other structures were also threatened.

Firefighters immediately began fire attack in the defensive strategy and were able to bring the fire under control within 40 minutes.

Crews remained on scene for an extended period of time conducting investigation, overhaul, salvage, and other post-fire activities.

The Turlock Irrigation District and Pacific Gas and Electric Company also responded to the scene to secure utilities, while Modesto Fire and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire provided city coverage for the duration of the incident.

No injuries were reported and no one was displaced as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
