The Turlock Unified School District On-Track Transitions Program presented its Class of 2014 on May 21, during an inspirational and moving graduation ceremony at Donnelly Park.

On-Track is a special program for 18 to 22-year-old young men and women with intellectual challenges. The program serves anywhere from 15 to 18 students and provides life skills instruction and vocational training.

Teachers Rachel Knoepfle and Sarah Watson presented the six graduates and noted their incredible work ethic, determination, resilience and sense of humor, which was quite evident at the ceremony.

On-Track partnered with various organizations so students could learn job skills including the Turlock Irrigation District, the City of Turlock, The Salvation Army, Ross, United Samaritans Foundation, Turlock Indoor Soccer, The Sound Room and Mundo’s Latin Grill.

TUSD Director of Special Education Jeff Santos called the graduates “an accomplished group” and said that “everyone could learn from their determination and smiles.”

Cesar Rodriguez led the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem was performed by 2014 graduates Kathleen Bettincourt and Brent Whisenhunt.
