At about 12:42am Monday, Officer Jimenez made a traffic stop in the 700 block of Flower Street.
Jimenez made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver as Anthony Mendoza, 21, of Turlock.
Officer Kauffman was riding with Jimenez and asked Mendoza to step out of his vehicle, at which point he noticed a handgun in plain view.
Mendoza was detained in handcuffs and the gun was retrieved.
The gun was a 9mm Glock 17 which was reported stolen out of Modesto.
Mendoza was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of carrying a concealed firearm and carrying a loaded firearm.
