At about 12:22am this morning, Officer Marquez was proactively patrolling as he usually does when he came across David Elkins, 44, of Turlock, in the 300 block of Almond Avenue.

Marquez recognized Elkins and knew that he was wanted for attempted murder in the stabbing that had occurred last Friday at Central Park that, previously reported on Turlock City News, so he got out with him.

Elkins was arrested without incident and Marquez called the on-call deputy probation officer due to Elkins being on post release community supervision (PRCS) for possession of methamphetamines for sale.

The DPO found that there was probable cause Elkins had violated the terms of his supervision, so he authorized a 10-day flash hold.

Elkins was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of attempted murder and violation of post release community supervision.

This isn’t Marquez’s first time arresting someone wanted for attempted murder while proactively patrolling the streets at night to keep you safe. In July last year, Marquez arrested Juan Guzman, 19, of Turlock, after recognizing him from a bulletin issued by the Merced Police Department where he had stabbed a grocery store employee after being confronted for shoplifting.

Great work Officer Marquez!
