06032024-acf-99main-1

At about 4:55am Monday, the California Highway Patrol, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a traffic collision with injuries southbound State Route 99 on the W. Main Street on-ramp.

The caller reported there was a pedestrian who appeared to have been struck multiple times while in the roadway.

When units arrived on scene, they declared the pedestrian deceased. He’s yet to be identified but was described as Black, in his late twenties, 5′ 6″ tall, and 140lbs. A deputy coroner responded to take possession of his body.

The preliminary investigation indicates the man was lying at his point of rest on the east part of the on-ramp, just south of the W. Main Street south prolonged curb line. The man’s body appeared to have been struck or run over by at least one vehicle, and one witness stated she saw a vehicle run him over as he was lying on the ground. However, that vehicle and any others that may have run him over didn’t stop and fulfill the requirements of the California Vehicle Code.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist is encouraged to call Officer Camara at 209-545-7440.
