At about 7:18am Saturday morning, Turlock Fire and American Medical Response responded to a sick person at Balswick’s Automotive Repair in the 400 block of N. Golden State Boulevard, who was lying down in front of the business and not moving.
AMR paramedics were the first to arrive on scene and located Toby Onate, 50, of Turlock, displaying obvious signs of death.
Turlock Police responded and requested the on-call deputy coroner.
According to police, the deputy coroner and paramedic both formed the belief based on their training and experience that Onate had died of a drug overdose.
