Man flees collision scene after causing rollover injuring woman Sunday night

On Sunday, May 14th, 2023, at 10:07 pm, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with injuries in the 1000 block of E Linwood Ave, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they found five vehicles involved. The first was a black 2017 Ram 1500, the second was a maroon 2004 Ford F-150, the third was a red 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, the fourth was a blue 2011 Volkswagen Golf, and the fifth was a small trailer that was attached to the red Silverado. The black 1500 had rolled over and was on its roof.

The black 1500 and blue Golf were both just occupied by their drivers at the time of the collision, while the other vehicles had been parked and unoccupied. The driver of the black 1500 had fled the scene on foot prior to crews arriving, while the driver of the blue Golf had suffered moderate injuries and was ground transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital.

The black 1500 and blue Golf sustained major damage, the maroon F-150 and trailer sustained minor damage, while the red Silverado sustained moderate damage.

Officers began investigating and determined that the driver of the black 1500 had been traveling westbound on W Linwood Ave from Fifth St at a high rate of speed, when for an unknown reason, he struck the blue Golf which had been parked on the side of the road and was occupied by its driver. The black 1500 rolled over and landed on its roof, while the blue Golf spun around and struck the red Silverado. Due to the impact to the red Silverado, its trailer was then pushed into the red F-150.

The driver of the black 1500 had been last seen fleeing the area on foot southbound while wearing a black baseball hat, dark gray shirt, blue jeans, and cowboy boots. One of the witnesses stated that he had been dressed nicely as if he had just left a party.

Officers checked the area for the driver, including with the police drone, however, were unable to locate him.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist in it is encouraged to call Officer Juan Arroyo at 209-669-2103.
