At about 5:15pm Friday, Turlock Police responded to a security check behind The Barber Lounge in the 100 block of N. Broadway.
When Officer Khounlivong arrived on scene, he located a man on the ground who he believed was overdosing.
Khounlivong immediately administered two doses of Narcan and began CPR.
Turlock Fire and American Medical Response arrived on scene shortly thereafter and took over patient care.
Unfortunately, despite best efforts, the man was declared deceased at the scene.
Khounlivong showed his body-worn camera video to the medic, who agreed it appeared the decedent was overdosing.
“There was no evidence of foul play,” said Turlock Police spokeswoman Dominique Sanchez.
Through the investigation, the decedent was identified as Francis Rock, 65, of Turlock.
A deputy coroner responded to the scene and took possession of Rock’s body. An autopsy and toxicology tests will be conducted to determine Rock’s official cause and manner of death.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist is encouraged to call Officer Rocha at 209-668-1200.
