At about 2:03am Tuesday, Turlock Police and University Police responded to a weapon offense that had just occurred at Arco AMPM in the 100 block of E. Monte Vista Avenue.
The caller reported that during a disturbance, a man had brandished a gun at him before leaving the area with a woman.
Officer Ayala arrived and located a couple that matched the description walking westbound on W. Monte Vista Avenue, next to the Elizabeth Court Apartments in the 3100 block of Niagra Street.
When Ayala attempted to contact the couple, they ran into the apartment complex.
Eventually, Ayala was able to get the couple proned out and both were detained at gunpoint.
Both were identified, including Miguel Ramirez, 23, of Turlock, who had a $25,500 local misdemeanor bench warrant for carrying a concealed firearm under an alias date of birth.
After dispatch called back the uncooperative alleged brandishing victim, he stated he didn’t want to return unless officers paid for his gas.
After checking the area, Officer Lewis located a replica firearm in the backyard of an apartment that had been thrown over the fence during the brief foot pursuit.
Ramirez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on his warrant.
The other detainee was released from detention and provided with a courtesy ride to her nearby residence.
