At about 12:45am Tuesday, Turlock Police Officer Mulhim made a traffic stop at S. Golden State Boulevard and Marshall Street.

Mulhim made contact with and identified the vehicle’s three occupants, including driver Valintina Guerra, 33, of Modesto, and passenger Mario Torres, 19, of Delhi. Torres originally provided a fake name.

When Mulhim had his dispatcher run the three, he discovered that Guerra had a $20,000 local felony warrant of arrest for vandalism, while Torres’ fake name returned with no record on file.

Mulhim made the decision that he was going to tow the vehicle.

During a subsequent inventory search, an open alcohol container and backpack were located in the back seat. Inside the backpack was a loaded short-barreled rifle.

Guerra and Torres were arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, Guerra on her warrant and Torres on charges of possession of an assault weapon, possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun, two counts of carrying a loaded firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or person addicted to a narcotic, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, falsely identifying to a peace officer, possession of a large-capacity magazine, and possession of an open alcohol receptacle by a vehicle’s passenger.
