At about 11:46pm Wednesday, Turlock Police Officer Nwando was flagged down at Arco AMPM in the 200 block of N. Golden State Boulevard.

Nwando contacted and identified Harpreet Atwal, 35, of Turlock.

When Nwando had his dispatcher run Atwal, he discovered he had a $100,500 local felony bench warrant for bringing a controlled substance or drug paraphernalia into a jail.

Atwal was also on parole for escaping from custody after being arrested for a felony and on searchable probation for violating a domestic violence protective order, falsely identifying to a peace officer, manslaughter, and possession of a controlled substance.

Atwal was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on his warrant.
