At about 4:00am Tuesday morning, Turlock Police responded to an armed robbery in progress at the Park Knolls Apartments in the 1100 block of Pedras Road.

When officers arrived on scene, they found that the victim and his friend had started a struggle with the suspect, holding him until police could arrive.

The suspect was detained and identified as Samuel Garcia, 27.

Through the investigation, it was discovered that the victim had met Garcia on social media, and Garcia had shown interest in buying the victim’s gaming console. The victim and Garcia had agreed to meet each other in the apartment complex at 4am to complete the sale. When the victim showed Garcia the console, Garcia brandished what appeared to be a handgun and grabbed the console.

The handgun was later discovered to be a BB gun.

Garcia was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of attempted robbery.
