On Wednesday, February 8th, 2023, at 3:07 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported battery in progress at a residence in the 200 block of Locust St, Turlock.
While officers were responding, the incident was upgraded to an aggravated assault due to the suspect, Joseph Luna, 24, of Turlock, cutting the victim.
Officers arrived in the area and detained Luna without incident after locating him nearby.
They then went to the residence and met with the victim, who told them that she, Luna, and another person had gotten into an argument that eventually turned physical. During the incident, Luna decided to pick up a cutting instrument and cut the victim with it.
The victim was ground transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Luna was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.
