Man arrested after struggling with and kicking officer Sunday night

On Sunday, January 1st, 2023, at 9:57 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported trespass in progress at Dollar General Market, 965 Lander Ave, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, they found and made contact with a man who was later identified as Tommy Kong, 33, of Carmichael.

Officers noticed that Kong was exhibiting objective symptoms of being under the influence of drugs and they issued him several lawful orders, which he refused to comply with.

Officers then attempted to detain Kong in handcuffs, however, he struggled with them and attempted to get away. Kong was eventually able to be placed in handcuffs and afterward, he kicked an officer.

Kong was arrested and transported to a local hospital to be medically cleared.

Afterward, he was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of obstructing or resisting a peace officer or other public officer in the discharge of their duty and battery.
