At about 2:56am Friday morning, Turlock Police responded to a vehicle burglary in progress in the parking lot of the Save Mart in the 1600 block of Lander Avenue.
The caller reported that there was a man breaking windows to multiple vehicles and that he was sitting in one of them.
Officers arrived on scene within two minutes and located the man still sitting in one of the vehicles. He was immediately placed under arrest.
The man was identified as Crispin Ochoasillas, 27, of Turlock, and was determined to have a $20,550 misdemeanor warrant out of Ceres for shoplifting.
Officers began investigating and observed three vehicles parked in close proximity to each other with their windows broken.
During a search of Ochoasillas incident to arrest, officers located narcotics and stolen property. The owner of one of the vehicles that had been broken into identified the stolen property as hers and advised that it had been left inside her locked vehicle.
A fourth vehicle was also parked nearby and was how Ochoasillas had arrived at the location. It and one of the other three vehicles had their ignitions punched.
Officers contacted the registered owner of the fourth vehicle at their residence nearby and it was determined to be an unreported stolen vehicle.
Ochoasillas was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of auto theft, possession of a controlled substance, receiving a stolen vehicle, attempted auto theft, burglary, and vandalism.
