On Wednesday, October 5th, 2022, at 10:55 pm, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of N Broadway and W Canal Dr, Turlock, spotted a vehicle which looked like one that had led another officer on a pursuit a few days prior, so he attempted to make a traffic stop on it, however, it failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.

The vehicle made its way southbound through town and eventually made it to the intersection of Fifth St and E Linwood Ave, where it made an eastbound turn. The officer was still quite a ways behind the vehicle on Fifth St and mistakenly thought that the eastbound turn was onto Hartvickson Dr, so he lost it. This pursuit’s duration was about four minutes and speeds during it reached about 70 miles per hour.

A short time later, at 11:16 pm, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s airship arrived overhead in the area where the vehicle was last seen in an attempt to locate it. They spotted a potential match just outside of town near the intersection of E Linwood Ave and S Verduga Rd. The sheriff’s airship followed the vehicle as it ultimately returned to the city, guiding Turlock Police officers to it.

A Turlock Police sergeant was able to get behind the vehicle near the intersection of Alpha Rd and E F St and attempted to stop it again, however, it failed to yield and a second pursuit ensued. This pursuit ended within about a minute as the sergeant lost the vehicle while it was leaving town eastbound on East Ave. Speeds during this pursuit reached about 100 miles per hour.

The sheriff’s airship continued to follow the vehicle to Denair, while it continued driving at high rates of speed and not stopping at stop signs. When the vehicle arrived in Denair, it began endlessly driving around in a neighborhood until it spotted a police vehicle and began recklessly heading back towards Turlock.

The sheriff’s airship continued to follow the vehicle and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies were able to ultimately assist by setting up spike strips near the intersection of E Tuolumne Rd and Geer Rd. As the vehicle approached the intersection, it ran over the spikes which quickly deflated its tires.

The vehicle continued westbound on W Tuolumne Rd until its driver ultimately lost control and crashed into a brick wall at N Tully Rd.

The vehicle’s driver bailed on foot and attempted to hide on Shadow Park Dr, however, was found a few minutes later by a sheriff’s canine. He was arrested without incident and identified as Gerardo Partida, 25, of Delhi.

Partida was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of flight from a peace officer with disregard to public safety, hit and run causing property damage, and driving a vehicle with lighting equipment not maintained in good working order.
