At about 1:32pm Sunday, Turlock Police responded to a battery in progress at Walgreens in the 1500 block of Geer Road.

There were several callers who reported two men were fighting. One of the callers stated the men were choking and threatening to murder each other, while another stated one was accusing the other of stealing.

One of the men, who was later determined to be the victim, began walking away from Guillermo Garcia, 38, of Winton, who continued to follow him onto the sidewalk and grab him.

Officer Lawrence arrived on scene and witnesses pointed the men out.

Both were contacted and identified. Garcia was discovered to be on probation out of Merced County for fleeing from a peace officer by vehicle with disregard for public safety.

Through the investigation, Garcia was determined to be the aggressor and the victim was bleeding from his neck.

The victim placed Garcia under citizen’s arrest.

Garcia was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of battery.
