On Friday, April 23rd, 2021, at approximately 3:15 am, the Turlock Police Department received a call of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Circle K located at 1600 W Main St. The caller reported that they were robbed of money at gunpoint by a subject who had then fled northbound onto the freeway in a silver Toyota sedan that was waiting nearby.
Officers saturated the area within minutes to begin searching for the suspect when they came across a bumper belonging to a silver vehicle near the freeway onramp. Witnesses told officers that a vehicle that was speeding away from the Circle K collided with another vehicle and fled onto the freeway. The vehicle that the silver sedan had collided with also fled. Officers quickly realized that the bumper belonged to their suspect vehicle from the robbery and used the license plate that was on the bumper to identify the suspect vehicle.
Later that morning at approximately 6:20 am, Stanislaus County Sheriff deputies located the suspect vehicle in Modesto and made a traffic stop. They contacted a female driver in it who had to be transported to a local area hospital for unrelated reasons. Turlock Police detectives responded to the traffic stop and seized the vehicle to be used as evidence in the investigation. The female who was driving the vehicle at that time was later interviewed by Turlock Police detectives.
After a bit of investigating, detectives were able to positively identify their suspect as Enrique Aaron Reyes, 32, of Turlock. Detectives were able to obtain a Ramey warrant for Reyes which they later served that week at a location in the 1300 block of N Golden State Blvd where they believed Reyes was staying at. Reyes was located during the warrant service and was taken into custody without further incident. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of robbery and violation of probation.
