At about 10:27pm Saturday, Turlock Police Officer Alberti attempted to make a traffic stop at Ross Dress for Less in the 2400 block of Geer Road.
Instead of stopping for Alberti, the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Sajanpreet Singh, 24, of India, exited the parking lot and began driving southbound on Geer Road at speeds in excess of 80mph.
Singh continued to drive recklessly through town before driving in a circle around a neighborhood and eventually stopping and leg-bailing in front of a residence in the 100 block of Eagleglen Court.
After a brief foot pursuit, Singh was apprehended.
Through the investigation, it was discovered that Singh didn’t have a valid driver’s license.
Alberti had originally suspected that Singh was under the influence due to his driving behavior prior to the stop, including running a stop sign, however, that ended up not being the case.
Singh was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of fleeing from a peace officer by vehicle with disregard for public safety, failing to stop at a stop sign, driving without a valid license, and obstructing or resisting a public officer in the discharge of their duty.
Additionally, Singh’s vehicle was impounded.
