On Wednesday, June 8th, 2022, at 4:38 am, a Turlock Police officer near Mulberry Mobile Home Park, 1412 S First St, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.
The officer made contact with the vehicle’s driver and identified him as Thai Vue, 46, of Merced. The officer had his dispatcher run Vue and it was discovered that his driver’s license was suspended and he had a felony warrant.
The officer then checked the vehicle’s identification number to verify it matched that of the vehicle the license plates belonged to, however, it was not a match. The vehicle’s identification number was ran and it returned stolen.
Vue was removed from the vehicle and arrested. A search incident to arrest led to the discovery of two catalytic converters and ammunition. Further follow up will be conducted to determine if the catalytic converters are stolen.
Further investigation led officers to believe that Vue knew or should have known that the vehicle he was driving was stolen.
Vue was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of joyriding, knowingly receiving a stolen vehicle, knowingly receiving stolen property, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, and driving with a suspended driver’s license, as well as his felony warrant.
