On Monday, March 6th, 2023, at 12:02 pm, Turlock Police officers arrived at a residence in the 1400 block of Cahill Ave, Turlock, to conduct follow-up in an attempted burglary investigation.
At 6:55 am the same morning, a man had been seen using a crowbar or similar object to attempt to pry open a side storage compartment of a Turlock Irrigation District truck. When the man was confronted, he got into a vehicle parked across the street and fled the area in it. The license plate of the vehicle was obtained and history showed that Dustin Degetaire, 25, of Turlock, had previously been arrested in the vehicle.
Officers found Degetaire in the driveway of his residence and he was detained. He was determined to be on searchable probation, so a probation search was conducted. During the search, officers located a crowbar and clothing similar to what the attempted burglary suspect had, as well as methamphetamines.
Degetaire was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of attempted burglary, possession of methamphetamines, and possession of burglary tools.
