California State University, Stanislaus has been ranked once again as one of the best “regional” colleges in the west by U.S. News & World Report.

Ranked for the 19th consecutive year, the University landed No. 55 overall and No. 15 among public universities in the publication’s Regional University West Rankings.

CSU Stanislaus moved up two spots in both the overall and public regional university rankings.

To determine its rankings, U.S. News & World Report collects data from each school in 16 areas related to academic excellence, then assigns a weight to each area based on which the publication sees as the most fit and determines the weighted score for each college.

The schools, which are separated into national and regional universities, are ranked by their score.

Regional and national universities are similar in that they offer a variety of undergraduate and master’s programs, but they offer fewer doctoral programs and mostly draw students from the surrounding areas.

Over that past several months, CSU Stanislaus has received high marks from several prominent publications. For the ninth consecutive year, CSU Stanislaus earned a place in the Princeton Review’s 2015 edition of “The Best 379 Colleges.” CSU Stanislaus was also named to the “Princeton Review’s Guide to 332 Green Colleges.”

The University also ranked No. 173 out of 1,500 four-year universities in Money Magazine’s Best College list, earning a B-plus grade for giving students the most value for their money.

In Forbes magazine’s America’s Top College list, CSU Stanislaus ranked No. 476 overall and No. 88 in the West region; Forbes’ list primarily focuses on the return on investment students receive from their alma mater.

And again, in May, the University ranked No. 28 out of more than 2,500 colleges in a Time magazine ranking based on access, affordability, and educational outcomes.
