La Nobleza de Aguililla, a notable Mexican band, stunned several Turlockers Monday night by filming their new music video on the California State University, Stanislaus campus.

The band was founded in 1979 in Aguililla in the state of Michoacán, Mexico. The band did not gain much recognition outside of their hometown until 15 years later, with the release of their first recording, Justicia Negra.

La Nobleza de Aguililla plays Onda Grupera, a style of Mexican folk music. The band was nominated in 2010 for Grupera Artist of the Year at the Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, a Latin music award show on the television network Univision.

The band is mostly popular within its own state of Michoacán as well as the southern state of Guerrero. Since 2004, La Nobleza de Aguililla has also enjoyed growing popularity on Latin radio stations in the United States.

The band has kept busy since 2005, releasing a total of 10 records so far. Several of La Nobleza de Aguililla’s singles have hit the Billboards charts, including the single “Aqui Estare” peaking at No. 18 on the Latin Regional Mexican Airplay chart this year.
