At about 2:53pm Thursday, Turlock Police, Modesto Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a sick person at CVS Pharmacy in the 1600 block of Lander Avenue.

The caller reported that someone might be dead on the side of the building.

Officers were the first to arrive on scene and began performing CPR on who was later identified as William Haney, 55, of Turlock.

Firefighters and paramedics arrived on scene shortly thereafter, taking over care and delivering chest compressions with a LUCAS device.

Unfortunately, despite best efforts, Haney was declared deceased at 3:33pm.

Haney was a transient known by police.

A deputy coroner responded to the scene and took possession of Haney. An autopsy and toxicology tests will be conducted to determine the official cause and manner of death.
