Colin Kaepernick took to Twitter this morning to defend himself against the onslaught of media reports that Miami police are investigating an incident involving the 49ers quarterback.
Per a Miami Police Department report, a woman woke up in the hospital following a night of drinking, drug use and making out with Kaepernick. She did not remember how she ended up in the hospital.
TMZ and various other media sources initially reported the incident as a sexual assault, and that Kaepernick, a Turlock native, was under investigation in connection with the assault. The report never specifically stated that Kaepernick was under investigation for sexual assault.
A Miami police spokesperson told the Contra Costa Times that, “There’s no evidence of a crime or a sexual assault. This report is simply an incident report taken at the women’s request… there are no specific allegations of wrongdoing.”
Kaepernick wrote several messages on Twitter this morning.
“The charges made in the TMZ story and other stories I’ve seen are completely wrong. They make things up about that never happened.”
“I take great pride in who I am and what I do, but I guess sometimes you have to deal with someone who makes things up.”
“I want to thank all of the people who have shared their encouraging sentiments. I assure you that your faith is not misplaced.”
As TurlockCityNews.com previously reported, a woman told Miami police that she visited the Miami apartment of Seattle Seahawks’ reciever Ricardo Lockette. Kaepernick and 49ers receiver Quinton Patton were present at the apartment.
The woman then said that she mixed drinks and gave shots to the players, but they told her she could not drink the shots unless she “‘hit’ the bong which contained marijuana.” She later began to feel lightheaded, she says, and laid down in a nearby bedroom.
The woman says that Kaepernick came in and began to kiss her, and while the two were kissing he began undressing her. She says that she was completely naked, but did not have sex with Kaepernick. The woman also claims to have a prior sexual relationship with Kaepernick.
Kaepernick then allegedly left the room, saying he would be back. Patton and Lockette both “peeked” inside the room, and the woman told them to leave. The woman then blacked out until she woke up in a Miami hospital.
On April 4 Kaepernick’s mother, Teresa Kaepernick, posted on Twitter: “Funny how some people ‘think’ they know so much about another when in reality they know so little. #dontbelieveeverythingyouread.”
