Juvenile Probationer Arrested With Ammunition

At about 1:05am Monday, Turlock Police Officer Lupe made a traffic stop at E. Olive Avenue and N. Center Street.

The vehicle had been listed in a be-on-the-lookout the week prior that stated a juvenile had been driving it and posted a photo of himself with a small handgun on Instagram.

Lupe contacted the driver, that same juvenile, an adult passenger, and three other juvenile passengers.

The juvenile who had made the Instagram post was on searchable juvenile probation for carrying a loaded firearm, so everyone was removed from the vehicle in order to conduct a probation search.

During a search of the juvenile’s person, officers located a .9mm bullet.

A subsequent vehicle search then led to the discovery of a magazine loaded with .9mm ammunition.

Due to his prior felony conviction, the juvenile was arrested.

Lupe transported the juvenile to his residence in the 100 block of Starr Avenue to conduct a probation search with some other officers, while additional officers stood by on the stop with everyone else.

No additional contraband or the gun were located in the juvenile’s residence.

The juvenile was booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on the charge of possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.

Back at the stop, one of the juvenile passengers began acting out and was detained for a 72-hour mental health evaluation. She was transported by American Medical Response.

The juvenile’s vehicle was towed.
