At about 8:54pm Thursday night, Turlock Police responded to a suspicious person at the Arco AMPM in the 1800 block of Lander Avenue.
The caller reported that there was a man who appeared intoxicated harassing a woman.
Officers arrived on scene a few minutes later and contacted the man, who wasn’t cooperative and wouldn’t comply with their lawful orders.
The man then physically arrested officers when they attempted to handcuff him, resulting in an officer having to deploy their TASER to gain compliance.
After the man was tased, he was placed un handcuffs, however, continued to resist and displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence.
The man was then asked to identify himself, and he stated that his full name was Don Junior.
After a bit of digging, the man was able to be identified as Don Fortner, 32, of Merced.
Fortner was discovered to have a $150,000 felony bench warrant out of Ceres for attempting to deter or resist an executive officer in the performance of their duty by means of threat or violence, as well as a $6,000 misdemeanor bench warrant for possession of methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers eventually placed Fortner in a WRAP restraint device for his own safety and transported him to Doctors Medical Center for medical clearance.
Afterward, Fortner was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of attempting to deter or resist an executive officer in the performance of their duty by means of threat or violence, public intoxication, obstructing or resisting a public officer, falsely identifying to a peace officer, and two counts of battery against a peace officer, as well as his warrants.
