The investigation of a hit and run that knocked out a traffic signal early on Monday led to the arrest of a subject for being drunk in public.
Turlock police received report of a downed traffic signal at the intersection of Dels Lane and Golden State Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. on Monday.
When officers arrived, they determined it had been caused by a hit and run and found an oil trail leading away from the scene of the collision, believed to be left from the responsible vehicle, said Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.
Officers followed the oil trail to the 2400 block of Adrian Street, where they located a vehicle.
Juan Guerrero, 34, was found to be sleeping in the passenger seat of the vehicle, with no driver to be found, said Lewis.
Guerrero was found to be intoxicated and arrested for being drunk in public. He was also found to be in possession of cocaine and was additionally charged with that as well, said Lewis.
The traffic signal has since been replaced.
