Gubernatorial Candidate to Speak in Turlock

Tim Donnelly, a candidate to become California's next Governor, will hold a pie and coffee social in Turlock this week.

The gubernatorial candidate will speak from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Latif's Restaurant, 111 N. Golden State Blvd. The public meeting will be preceded by a one-hour private event for local VIPs.

Donnelly is currently a Republican State Assemblyman representing California's High Desert region of San Bernadino County. He was first elected to the Assembly in 2010, winning on the back of strong Tea Party support.

Donnelly is now running for California Governor in 2014, using the slogan “Patriot not politician.” His platform is based on reduced government waste and spending, opposition to the Affordable Care Act, illegal immigration, and abortions, and support for gun ownership, lower taxes, and regulatory, tort, and energy policy reform.

In 2011, Donnelly notably called for the resignation of the California State University, Fresno student body president, an undocumented Mexican immigrant. In 2012, he attempted to carry a loaded Colt handgun onto an airplane; TSA discovered the weapon, and Donnelly later agreed to a plea bargain.

Prior to his tenure in the Assembly, Donnelly was involved with the Minuteman Project, a citizen's militia opposed to illegal immigration. He was featured in a segment on “The Colbert Report,” building a small fence along the U.S. border with Mexico.
