Extremely drunk driver spits on officer and vomits on himself after being arrested Sunday night

On Sunday, November 27th, 2022, at 11:33 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported vehicle collision at McDonald’s, 2400 Geer Rd, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a single vehicle involved, a gray Honda sedan that had struck a bollard in the business’s drive-through.

The vehicle had a single occupant, its driver, who at this point we only know as William. William did not suffer any injuries.

The vehicle had sustained very minor superficial damage and was able to be driven by an officer to a parking space in the parking lot.

While officers were speaking with William, they noticed that he was exhibiting objective symptoms of being under the influence, so they began asking him DUI interview questions. During the interview, William stated that he had been at “24 Central Turlock” drinking “Turlock Soda”.

During the interview, William was also asked if he was diabetic and he stated that he was. American Medical Response responded to check William out and they determined that he was not suffering any type of diabetic emergency.

Officers then asked William if he would be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. William agreed and began the first test, however, was unable to complete it due to his level of intoxication.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that William was under the influence of alcohol.

William was arrested and refused to provide an evidentiary breath or blood sample as required by California’s implied consent law. He then spat on an officer and was transported to the Turlock Police Department. During the transport and upon arrival, William vomited several times on himself and the back seat of the police vehicle. He was eventually released to be transported to a local hospital by American Medical Response.

It’s currently unknown how exactly the collision occurred.
