Stanislaus County and Turlock are still waiting for the final election results as there are still about 10,000 county ballots still needing to be counted.
Turlock’s City Council Race is likely to stand as results have been updated to report Amy Bublak in first with 8,955 votes (25.92%) and Mary Jackson in second with 8,757 (25.35%). Current Vice Mayor Kurt Vander Weide is looking to lose his re-election as he is trailing Mary Jackson by 475 votes. David Fransen is at 5,199 votes (15.05%). Jim Sarnowsky has 1,916 votes (5.55%) and Jeff Anderson has 1,353 votes (3.92%).
The Stanislaus County sales tax increase to fix roads is so close that nobody can be sure which way it will go. Measure S needs 66.7 percent of the votes to pass.
As of Monday, the numbers being reported show that Measure S is at 65.96 percent, short only .71 percent so far. There are still 10,350 ballots to be counted. Measure S would need 7,655 yes votes out of the remaining ballots waiting to be counted.
The Stanislaus County Clerk’s office will be closed on Veteran’s Day and then they will get back to counting. There has been no estimated date as to when all the ballots will be counted. The final canvass has to be clerk certified before December 2, 2008 according to law.
The Turlock City Council Members Elect will be seated on December 9, 2008.
