On Wednesday, February 15th, 2023, at 7:39 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported disturbance in progress at a residence in the 600 block of W Main St, Turlock, possibly involving a knife.
When officers arrived on scene, two subjects were detained, including a man later identified as Israel Hernandez, 29, of Newman.
Officers began investigating and determined that Hernandez was intoxicated and had jumped a fence into the backyard of a home he wasn’t associated with. The other man who was detained was a neighbor and noticed Hernandez, so he confronted him. Hernandez didn’t like being confronted and a fight ensued, which was still ongoing when officers arrived.
During the investigation, Hernandez threatened officers.
The neighbor who had originally been detained was released, while Hernandez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of public intoxication and attempting to deter or resist an executive officer in the performance of their duty by means of threat or violence.
