At about 1:45am Monday, Turlock Police Officer Rios made a traffic stop at Sinclair Gas & Dino Mart in the 1400 block of N. Golden State Boulevard.
Just prior to the stop, Rios had observed the vehicle leaving the paved roadway while making a turn.
Rios made contact with and identified the vehicle’s four occupants, including driver Javier Cordova, 63, of Turlock, a passenger wearing a Texas Roadhouse uniform, and two skimpy-dressed girls who didn’t speak any English.
When Rios had his dispatcher run the four, he discovered Cordova had an expired driver’s license.
While speaking with Cordova, Rios noticed he was displaying objective symptoms of being under the influence.
Rios removed Cordova from his vehicle and put him through standardized field sobriety tests. Cordova refused to blow into a preliminary alcohol screening device.
Based on the totality of the circumstances, Rios determined Cordova was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.
Cordova chose to provide two breath samples at the scene for his chemical test required by California’s implied consent law. Cordova was also issued a driver’s license suspension order.
During an inventory search of Cordova’s vehicle prior to it being towed, officers located a baggy of narcotics in the trunk.
Cordova was released on a citation on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of a controlled substance.
Additionally, Cordova’s vehicle was towed.
We reached out to Texas Roadhouse for comment regarding their employee being a passenger in the vehicle and making sexual remarks about the two girls, but have yet to hear back.
