On Thursday, December 29th, 2022, at 1:43 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported hit and run that had just occurred at the intersection of W Main St and S Walnut Rd, Turlock.
While officers were responding, the victim was following the suspect and he eventually stopped near the intersection of W Harding Rd and S Soderquist Rd.
When officers arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved. The first one was a white BMW sedan and the second one was a black Ford pickup truck.
Both vehicles only had single occupants, their drivers, neither of which suffered any injuries.
Officers began speaking with the driver of the black Ford SUV, who we only know at this point as Frank, and noticed an odor of alcohol emitting from him, so they asked him if he would be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Frank agreed and completed the tests.
Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers ultimately determined that Frank was under the influence of alcohol.
Frank was arrested and transported to a local hospital to provide a blood sample as required by California’s implied consent law.
Afterwards, Frank was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater. He was also issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and his vehicle was impounded.
The white BMW sedan sustained moderate damage and was deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring it to be towed away, while the black Ford pickup truck only sustained minor damage.
It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred.
