At about 1:08am Friday, Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a traffic collision with injuries at a residence in the 800 block of Runyan Drive.
The caller stated he had hit a residence and was bleeding from the head.
When units arrived on scene, they found that the caller had hit a cinder block wall, not the residence itself.
The caller was identified as Dalton Mowat, 22, of Turlock.
Mowat was injured but also displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence.
Mowat was unable to participate in any standardized field sobriety tests due to his injuries.
Due to the totality of the circumstances, Officer Rios determined Mowat was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.
Mowat chose to provide two breath samples at the scene for his chemical test required by California’s implied consent law.
Mowat was then transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital.
Rios followed the ambulance to the hospital where he issued Mowat a driver’s license suspension order and released him on a citation for driving under the influence of alcohol so he could continue to receive care at the hospital.
Mowat’s vehicle was towed.
It was later determined that just prior to this collision, Mowat had struck a street sign at N. Olive Avenue and North Avenue as well.
