On Thursday, January 27th, 2022, at 6:01 pm, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with unknown injuries at Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital, 901 E Monte Vista Ave, Turlock.
When crews arrived on scene, they found a single vehicle involved, a gray Nissan sedan.
The vehicle had three occupants, a mother and her two children. Neither of the three suffered any injuries.
Officers noticed signs of intoxication coming from the woman, so they ran her through standardized field sobriety tests. Those tests led officers to believe that she was indeed intoxicated.
The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring it to be towed away.
The woman stated that she was traveling westbound in the #2 lane of West Monte Vista Avenue approaching North Olive Avenue, when one of her children who was seated in the back asked for his Gatorade. As she retrieved his Gatorade and attempted to give it to him, she lost control of the vehicle, veered off to the right, and collided with a power pole.
The involved pole also sustained damage and Turlock Irrigation District responded to inspect it.
The woman was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving while intoxicated. Her identity is currently unknown.
