On Sunday, October 25th, 2020, shortly after 12:10 am, the Turlock Police Department received multiple calls reporting a vehicle collision with a vehicle into a power pole in front of Joe Gomes & Sons located at 725 N Tully Rd.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a sheared off power pole with its lines dangling from it that and a wrecked Ford SUV without a driver in the field east of Joe Gomes & Sons. Multiple callers then reported sightings of the driver running northbound on N Tully Rd. Officers checked the area he was reported to be in, and located a subject matching his description at N Tully Rd and Cody Ct. Officers got out with that subject, who was later identified as Miguel Valencia, 22, of Turlock.
He denied involvement, however, evidence was located in the vehicle that indicated otherwise. He also showed signs that indicated he was intoxicated. Officers placed him under arrest and transported him to a local hospital to provide a sample of his blood to determine his level of intoxication. He refused to provide his blood, so a search warrant for was obtained for it from the on-call Superior Court judge. Once the results came back, it was determined he was over the legal limit. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence and hit and run.
