Drunk driver causes vehicle collision with kids in her vehicle

On Sunday, November 29th, 2020, at approximately 5:35 pm, the Turlock Police Department received a call of an injury rollover three-vehicle collision in the intersection of S Golden State Blvd and Marshall St. Officers responded alongside American Medical Response and the Turlock Fire Department with Battalion 4, Engine 31, Squad 32, and Engine 33. A deputy with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office was in the area when it occurred and also assisted.

Officers arrived on scene within minutes and located the occupants of all three vehicles out of their vehicles and accounted for. Engine 31 arrived on scene a minute later. Captain 31 reported three vehicles involved, two of which were upright and one was on its side. Captain 31 assumed command and put Engine 31 in the investigation mode.

Firefighters and paramedics determined that there were only minor injuries and the units on scene could handle. Engine 33 was cancelled. Officers noticed signs of impairment from one of the drivers and asked if she, who was later identified as Aliyah Fragoso, 25, of Tracy, would participate in field sobriety tests, which she refused. She was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital by ambulance to be medically cleared. Officers asked if she would provide a sample of her blood, which she also refused. A search warrant for her blood was authored and submitted to a judge which was approved.

After being medically cleared and a sample of her blood being obtained, Fragoso was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence causing injury and child abuse causing injury, because she willingly and knowingly drove with two juveniles in her vehicle while intoxicated.

In addition to Fragoso, two other people were transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
