At about 9:56pm Wednesday night, Officer Ruiz was enroute to a call when he came upon a vehicle collision in the 900 block of N. Tully Road.

A gray 2017 Toyota Tacoma was facing northbound in the southbound lane with front-end damage and a street light partially in its bed, with the other end of it underneath the tire of a parked vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as David Cadwalader, 25, of Turlock. He was the only occupant of it and wasn’t injured.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the collision had occurred at N. Tully Road and W. Canal Drive.

Cadwalader had taken out the front yard fence of a residence on the corner of the intersection, and then the street light. He continued driving northbound until coming to final rest where he was found, dragging the street light along for just over 600 feet.

While speaking with Cadwalader, officers noticed that he was displaying objective symptoms of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local hospital for a blood draw as required by California’s implied consent law.

Cadwalader was then booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also issued a driver’s license suspension order and his vehicle was impounded.
