On Monday, September 5th, 2022, at 1:03 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with unknown details in the 1100 block of East Ave, Turlock.
When officers arrived on scene, they found four vehicles involved. The first was a white Chevrolet pickup truck, the second was a white Ford pickup truck, the third was a silver Dodge sedan, and the fourth was a gray Dodge pickup truck. A fence was also involved.
The white Chevrolet pickup truck had a single occupant, its driver, Omar Jimenez, 27, of Turlock. The other three vehicles were parked and unoccupied.
The white Chevrolet pickup truck sustained moderate damage and was deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring it to be towed away. The other three vehicles sustained minor damage and were left where they were parked.
While speaking with Jimenez, officers noticed that he was exhibiting objective symptoms of being under the influence, so they asked him if he would be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Jimenez agreed and was able to complete one, however, was not able to complete the remaining two due to his level of intoxication.
Ultimately, based on the objective symptoms that Jimenez was exhibiting, his performance in the one standardized field sobriety he was able to complete, the fact that he had just been involved in a collision, his statements, and the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol.
Jimenez was arrested and provided an evidentiary breath sample at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law. The results of the breath sample revealed that Jimenez had a blood alcohol content of .19.
Jimenez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater. He was also issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and his vehicle was impounded.
It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred.
