On Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, at 9:10 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported vehicle collision that had just occurred in front of a residence in the 1500 block of Joett Dr, Turlock, involving a man who appeared drunk that had struck a parked vehicle.
As a sergeant was arriving in the area, he was flagged down by the caller who had followed the man to his residence in the 1800 block of Joett Dr.
The man was contacted and identified as Patrick Ledbetter, 40, of Turlock. Ledbetter displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence, so he was asked to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. He agreed and completed the tests.
Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that Ledbetter was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested.
Ledbetter provided two breath samples at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law. Afterward, he was released on a citation on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order and his vehicle was impounded.
Back at the collision scene, two vehicles were found to be involved. Ledbetter’s gold 2001 GMC Sierra and a black 2011 Ford Taurus.
Ledbetter had been the only occupant of the gold Sierra and the black Taurus had been parked on the side of the road and was unoccupied. Ledbetter had not suffered any injuries.
Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.
It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred.
