At about 4:27am Saturday morning, a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputy came upon a traffic collision in the 2000 block of Nikki Ann Way.
Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded, after the deputy reported that there was someone passed out behind the wheel.
When Turlock units arrived on scene, they found that the driver of a white 2006 Dodge Dakota had crashed into a parked gray 2011 Ford F-150. The driver of the Dakota had woken up by that point and identified himself as Alexis Navarro, 23, of Turlock.
Navarro was checked out by firefighters and paramedics, but didn’t have any injuries.
While speaking with Navarro, officers noticed that he was displaying objective symptoms of being under the influence, so they asked him if he’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Navarro agreed and completed the tests, however, performed poorly on them.
Officers then asked Navarro if he’d be willing to blow into a preliminary alcohol screening device, which he did.
Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that Navarro was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested.
Navarro provided two breath samples at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law. He was then issued a driver’s license suspension order.
Afterward, Navarro was released to a sober person on a citation on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater.
Navarro’s vehicle was impounded.
