At about 1:59am Monday, Turlock Police responded to a traffic collision at a residence in the 0 block of N. Minaret Avenue.
The caller was from a residence across the street in the 1100 block of East Avenue, and reported that someone had crashed into a couple of vehicles across the street at a house with a Minaret address.
Officers arrived on scene and located a man later identified as Dimas Hernandez, 28, of Turlock, walking away from the scene. Hernandez had just begun walking away and had only made it a few feet away.
Hernandez had been driving his silver 2003 Toyota Corolla eastbound on East Avenue, when he’d left the roadway and crashed into two parked and unoccupied vehicles in the driveway of the residence. One of the vehicles had also been pushed into the garage door, although there was minimal damage to it.
Hernandez wasn’t injured, was unlicensed, and displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence.
Officers asked Hernandez if he’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests, which he agreed to but performed poorly on.
Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined Hernandez was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.
Hernandez chose to provide two breath samples at the scene for his chemical test required by California’s implied consent law. He was then transported to Doctors Medical Center for medical clearance.
Afterward, Hernandez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Additionally, Hernandez was issued a driver’s license suspension order and his vehicle was impounded.
