On Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, at 4:27 am, a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputy near the intersection of Lander Ave and W Linwood Ave, Turlock, observed a vehicle being driven with a headlight out, so she began attempting to catch up to it to make a traffic stop.

While doing so, the vehicle took off from the deputy at an estimated speed of 100 miles per hour and began blowing through stop signs. The deputy lost the vehicle.

Around the same time, the Turlock Police Department received a call reporting a similar vehicle doing donuts at Columbia Park. By the time officers arrived in the area, the vehicle had left.

A couple of minutes later, the deputy who had originally spotted the vehicle came up on it abandoned after it had just crashed into a residence in the 700 block of Park St.

Deputies and officers quickly saturated the area, set up a perimeter, and began searching the area with a police drone in an attempt to locate the vehicle’s occupants, however, were unable to.

Deputies began investigating and had the California Highway Patrol contact the vehicle’s owner at her residence in Delhi, who stated that her vehicle had been stolen. CHP officers entered the vehicle as stolen and deputies recovered it, while TPD officers handled the collision.

No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.
