This time of year, all of the good little puppies have just one thing in mind: Santa Paws.
Dogs and their owners alike will have a chance to meet Santa Paws from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Winter Wonderland Walk Through the Forest doggy social.
The event, sponsored by Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital, invites scores of dog owners to enjoy Turlock's Fields of Ice skating rink and stroll through the Christmas Tree forest at Ron's Amazing Trees. And, of course, to have some fun meeting other dog owners.
“I'm excited to have a doggy social event at the Turlock Fields of Ice,” Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital Owner and Veterinarian Rob Santos said. “Maybe we will see one or two dogs get on the ice.”
Unfortunately, ice skating is for humans only. Skating costs the standard price for admission and skate rentals – $10 for adults, and $8 for children under 12.
But the rest of the merriment comes free of charge, thanks to Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital. Guests can sip a free hot cocoa or apple cider, while watching the ice skaters whiz past.
The event carries on Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital's tradition of holding community dog socials. The veterinary hospital has previously held several “Scoop'it & Loop'it” ice cream socials, including an October event at the R.A.M. Farms pumpkin patch and corn maze. More than 100 people – and adorable puppies – attend the events.
Fields of Ice is located at 716 N. Daubenberger Rd. To contact Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital, call (209) 634-0023 or visit www.MonteVistaVet.com.
