The first of two nights of Destruction Derby at the Stanislaus County Fair got off to a roaring start Monday with the “Traditional Turmoil.”
Troy Lea took the win in the first heat and its $500 first place prize. Nathan and Brian Holt took second and third place, respectively; Nathan Holt received $175 and Brian Holt received $125. Fred Neto took fourth place, and while he didn’t win a cash prize, he advanced to the final heat with the three other winners.
Second heat winners included Mark Cabral, with Denair Lumber, who won the $500 first place prize and John Duarte, of Duarte Trees and Vines, who won $175 for second place. Dan Hicks and Jacob Casale took third and fourth place, respectively.
In the final, Dan Hicks, of CarQuest, won took the overall win and its $3,000 grand prize in his Dukes of Hazzard “General Lee” inspired car. Turlocker Fred Neto won $1,500 for second place, Nathan Holt took third and won $900, and Mark Cabral won fourth place and won $500.
