California State University, Stanislaus is partnering with the Great Valley Writing Project to offer a two-week youth writing program for students in grades 4 through 9.
The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., June 3 through 14.
With the help and guidance of GVWP teacher consultants, participating students will grow academically as they work with other students and teachers to develop their writing skills. Students will experiment with a range of genres and creative writing techniques.
Established in 1983, the GVWP is a local site of the National Writing Project, which is regarded as one of the highest and most developed efforts in improving writing skills within the United States. Serving more than 135,000 participants each year, the National Writing Project is located on more than 200 university and college campuses throughout the nation.
The two-week youth writing program at CSU Stanislaus requires a $250 registration fee, which includes all class materials, a GVWP T-shirt, and an anthology of the student’s writing. A family discount is available for two or more students when registered together.
