Turlock high school and junior high school students are receiving tutoring for challenging mathematics assignments from members of the Math Club at California State University, Stanislaus as part of a fundraising project.
The club’s third and final “Tutoring Night” session is scheduled for Monday, November 17, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the University Union Event Center. The program is open to all students.
For a $5 donation, students teamed up in small groups receive help with their homework as well as study preparation for tests in algebra, geometry, math analysis/precalculus, and calculus. Students from Turlock and Pitman high schools, Dutcher Middle School, Turlock Junior High School, and Turlock Christian Schools participated in the September and October tutoring sessions.
“The Math Club received positive feedback from parents and local teachers both during and after the first evening of tutoring, and many of them returned with their children for the October Tutoring Night,” said Dr. Brian Jue, a CSU Stanislaus mathematics professor and club faculty sponsor. Dr. John Rock of the Mathematics faculty is also a faculty sponsor for the club.
