Local retirement community Covenant Village recently announced the addition of two executives to its leadership team.
As the newly appointed Assistant Executive Director, Charles W. Johnson will collaborate with, and report to, Covenant Village Executive Director Bob Howell. In his new position, Johnson will manage residential and assisted living operations.
A veteran of Covenant Village’s parent organization Covenant Retirement Communities since 2004, Johnson spent the past four years leading the organization’s community in Florida. He began his Covenant Retirement Communities tenure at the Covenant Village of Turlock.
Johnson has previously served as the editorial director of Focus on the Family Periodicals, as well as principal of Huntington School in San Marino. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English and history from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, and a master’s degree in pupil personnel services from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. Johnson is also a licensed administrator of Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly.
Covenant Village also appointed Laura J. Bemis as the new Sales Director, bringing more than 18 years of experience in sales, property management, customer service and administration to the new position. As part of her responsibilities, Bemis will develop and implement a sales program for Covenant Village’s 219 residential retirement apartments and patio homes.
Bemis previously directed sales and training at Garden Plaza Greenbriar Cove, a retirement community in Ooltewah, Tennessee. She also served on the board of the Plumas Association of Realtors for nine years, including holding the position of President.
Aside to residential retirement, the community’s senior services also include 52 assisted living residences and a 50-bed skilled nursing center.
